There are also four public holidays a year, called Bank Holidays, when legislation requires banks and most business to close. There are of no nationalistic or religious significance.
Great Britain has its particular holiday dishes: roast turkey, chestnut stuffing, gravy, sausages or bacon rolls, roasted or boiled potatoes, brussels sprouts, and a rich plum pudding. There are some national specialties: black bun, haggis, Soul Cake, wassail, leek pies and leek soup, Saint Dwynwen’s Day Treat, Edinburg Fog, Oatmeal Crusted Scottish Herring.
